ARKids First and Arkansas Public Libraries Partner to Focus on

 Summer Safety

ARKids First, the state’s CHIP program (Children’s Health Insurance Program), has partnered with the Arkansas Public Library System’s popular summer reading program to provide educational materials and a series of safety events during July and August.   The educational materials and events are aimed at keeping kids safe during the summer and encouraging parents of already enrolled kids to utilize ARKids benefits for well-child doctor visits.     All public library branches in the state’s system will have summer safety educational packets available for children who register for free summer reading programs.   A series of eight summer safety events will be held at public libraries throughout the state. The events will focus on educating kids and their parents about summer safety through fun and interactive activities.
All events and materials are available at no cost.   Quantities may be limited at some libraries. ARKids First serves more than 300,000 kids in Arkansas who might have been uninsured without this option. The program encourages parents to develop a relationship with a primary care physician and set up well-child check-ups for their children in order to stay current on immunizations and other important screenings. Among other benefits, ARKids First also covers vision and dental care without a referral from a doctor.

"Alice's Wonderland" Exhibit
Museum
of Discovery

Scientific twists, mathematical turns, literary puzzles and more await visitors who visit the Museum of Discovery

There is no additional charge to experience the exhibit; entry is included in Museum admission.

The West Central Arkansas Society for Human Resource Management, Inc. chapter is pleased to be hosting its 7th Annual Managers' Seminar at the Hot Springs Civic and Convention Center on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Born out of need and demand, the Conference is intended to educate and motivate primarily managers and supervisors - in areas vital to being a great manager/supervisor, and dealing with employment matters. This seminar is specifically designed for all levels of managers - from the newly promoted to the senior level.

As in year's past, the participants can choose which concurrent sessions they want or need to attend. This allows the manager to get the desired training that they need, and hopefully, allowing him/her to immediately put into place what he/she has learned at the conference. Our speakers are all knowledgeable in their topics - many are consultants, employment attorneys or specialists in their fields. We generally have over 200 local managers from the West Central Arkansas area including Hot Springs, Malvern, Arkadelphia, Hot Springs Village, Benton, Bryant, and Glenwood.

For more information, e-mail seminar@wcashrm.org or visit the chapter website at  www.WCASHRM.org.
